Dr. Alasdair Green, The Outdoorsy Educator

The outdoors have always played a critical role in Alasdair’s life, and he firmly believes that exposure to nature offers significant benefits for both students and educators. He advocates for learning experiences that move beyond screens and traditional indoor settings, noting that when students are placed in outdoor environments, they often demonstrate heightened curiosity, engagement, and a sense of wonder. Alasdair continually seeks opportunities to create spaces where students can explore, discover, and learn through meaningful outdoor experiences.
He has completed notable long-distance hikes, including the West Highland Way in Scotland and the Lone Star Trail in Texas. Additional hikes of note include summiting Guadalupe Peak and completing the New Jersey section of the Appalachian Trail.
During the cooler months, he can often be found exploring local trails in and around Denton, continuing his connection with the outdoors and the natural world.
